About the programme

This study program will get you expertise about:

  • Ecological theory with special emphasis on conservation, biogeography, evolutionary biology and population dynamics;
  • Existing conflicts between man and the environment on a global perspective;
  • Current issues and scientific methods in ecology and wildlife research.

Practical information

The study is a full time basic study at bachelor level extending 4 months and consisting of 30 ECTS credits. The study is given each fall (from mid-August to mid-December).

A candidate with fulfilled qualifications will have the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge

 The candidate

  • has knowledge about ecological theory with special emphasis on conservation, biogeography, evolutionary biology and population dynamics
  • has knowledge about existing conflicts between man and the environment on a global perspective
  • has knowledge about current issues and scientific methods in ecology and wildlife research.

Skills

The candidate 

  • has the capacity of planning and carrying out a minor scientific study 
  • has the capacity to plan data collection in the field and apply basic statistical methods
  • has the capacity to analytically and critically interpret scientific results 

General Competence

The candidate

  • has the capacity to reflect on current threats to biodiversity and critically propose and discuss possible solutions 

Admission requirements

To enter the study it is required that the student can confirm to have fulfilled at least one year at a university or university college within the fields of wildlife biology, biology, ecology, evolution, forestry, agriculture, environmental sciences or likewise, or have achieved the bachelor degree in such sciences.

What is next?

International Ecology and Conservation is useful for students that are planning a master degree in ecology or related subjects. The program can be combined with  Boreal Forest and wildlife management  (30 ECTS) or   Practice in Applied Ecology (15 / 30 ECTS)
