INN’s Centre for Collaborative Learning for Sustainable Development contributed to the U.N. High Level Political Forum on sustainable development with lectures and seminars.
Victoria W. Thoresen, who holds the University’s UNESCO Chair for Education about Sustainable Lifestyles, spoke at the United Nations High Level Political Forum in New York in July 2018 in connection with the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative. In addition, the Centre organized and lead a seminar called, “Responsibility Roulette”.
The U.N. High Level Political Forum is organized annually. The purpose is to assess progress on the Sustainability Development Goals (SDG’s). This year’s focus was on SDG 6, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 17.
Thoresen’s lecture focused on how higher education can collaborate with other institutions to promote knowledge and activities related to sustainable development. About 130 people were present at this event. The Centre’s seminar at the U.N., Responsibility Roulette, was organized as an interactive game where participants focused on how sustainable lifestyles can be made more accessible, attractive and normal.
The 17 SDG’s are a roadmap for how the international community can work together to solve global challenges. The 2019 High Level Political Forum will focus on SDG #4: Quality Education.
