Business Analytics

Business Analytics is mainly about utilizing data to achieve knowledge on businesses’ performance, financial assessments, the surrounding environment and problem solution in general. Business Analytics as an academic field is applicable for a range of different areas, where the common foundation stems from economic and financial theory in combination with utilizing data.

“Business analytics is the scientific process of transforming data into insight for making better decisions. Business analytics is used for data-driven or fact-based decision making, which is often seen as more objective than other alternatives for decision making.”

(Camm, J. D., Cochran, J. J., Fry, M. J., & Ohlmann, J. W. (2020). Business analytics. Cengage Learning.)

The main research areas for the research group are:

  • Productivity and efficiency analysis
  • Finance
  • Behavioural Analytics
  • Econometrics
  • Dynamic pricing
