The Paper Presentation Prize will be awarded to the best paper presentation by a PhD candidate at RaAM2020. This prize is sponsored by the John Benjamins Publishing Company and will consist of 100 euros and a certificate.
The following criteria make you eligible for the presentation prize:
- student member of the RaAM Association
- accepted submission for a paper of which the PhD is a sole or main author and which the PhD will present him/herself at RaAM2020
- PhD dissertation not completed at the time of abstract submission
If you meet these criteria and want to be considered for the prize, please indicate this when you register and pay for the conference (by 17 April 2020 at the latest).
The Local Organising Committee will select the 6 PhD candidates whose paper abstracts have received the highest evaluation from the Scientific Committee in the review of submissions for the conference as finalists. We will then notify all candidates of the decision.
Selection of winner
Judges will be appointed by the RaAM Executive Committee to judge the presentations of candidates during the conference. All candidates will be scheduled in the same track. The EC will ensure that judges are not connected with the candidate’s research (e.g. as supervisor, co-supervisor or ex-supervisor).
Each judge will independently assess the candidate’s presentation on a scale of 1- 10, across two equally weighted factors: 1) The quality of the research reported; (2) The quality of the communication of this research in the light of the format in which it is presented (e.g. combining oral and visual modes, clarity of exposition).
The judges will confer before the end of the conference in order to decide on the prize winner. The award will be given to the candidate with the highest total score from the different judges. The winner of the RaAM PhD Conference prize will be announced during the conference (at the annual general meeting, at the conference dinner, or at the closing).
