Teacher education and diversity

Nordic classrooms have become more diverse due to immigration from both European and non-European countries. The increasingly diverse classrooms imply new challenges for teachers and teacher education. The research group Diversity in Education (DivE) at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences invites teacher educators and Ph.D. students within the field to a conference on teacher education and diversity.

We invite abstracts in Scandinavian languages and English for individual papers in parallel sessions on the following topics:

Multicultural education

In this session, we welcome contributions on multicultural pedagogical practices related to kindergarten, school or teacher education. We also welcome theoretical considerations on cultural and religious diversity, and studies related to learning, identity and multicultural competency.

Inclusive teacher education

In this session, we welcome contributions on how the term inclusive teacher education is understood and how it is practiced.

Global and intercultural competence for teacher students through practicum in south

In this session, we welcome contributions on international practicum as a mean to enhance the students’ intercultural competence and global awareness.

Individual papers will be assigned 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and discussion. All abstracts will be reviewed by a scientific committee.
