Trygve Beyer Broch is invited to Yale University as a visiting fellow, and has received a grant from the prestigious Fulbright Foundation.
Broch is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Public Health, teaching and doing research in cultural sociology and public health. As a sport sociologist Broch is concerned with how culture and society affects physical activity and public health.
Invited to Yale
Trygve Beyer Broch is invited by the renowned cultural sociologist Jeffrey C. Alexander for a one year stay at the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University. During his visit Broch aims to explore cultural sociology perspectives in the study of sports, gender and public health. He will also formulate a research project on how integration efforts in sport shape children and youth’s quality of life.
Broch has received NOK 100 000 from the prestigious Fulbright Foundation in support of his visit to Yale. Annually, the foundation only funds about 40 people in Norway to study, to teach or to do research in the United States.
- I am very grateful for the help provided by the Faculty of Public Health, who gave the necessary and important support, and clarified their interest for the knowledge that I intend to bring home from Yale, says Broch - who also receives an internal grant from the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in support of his stay abroad.
