In collaboration with Visit Lillehammer, the International Office at INN University, Campus Lillehammer offer our exchange students the possibility of volunteering at a variety of events during their stay.
In the beginning of each semester, there will be held an information meeting regarding the different events students can volunteer at. For fall 2019, the date of the information meeting will be announced during the Orientation Day.
Events fall semester 2019
Birken Cycle festival – 31.08-01.09.
Norway’s biggest cycle festival includes several cycles, with separate cycles for children and juniors. The main cycle, Birkebeinerrittet, runs from Rena to Lillehammer, a total of 86 km. Students who volunteer will help out around Lillehammer.
Lillehammer Live – 06.09-07.09.
Lillehammer Live (website in Norwegian) is an outdoor music festival, held for the second year in a row in Lillehammer. The location is at Strandpromenaden, close to the shopping mall Strandtorget. Last year’s festival was a huge success, with a variety Norwegian artists, including an offer of local food.
Døla Jazz – 17.10-20.10.
This is one of Norway’s oldest and most famous Jazz festivals. Døla Jazz is an exciting festival for the young and promising talents.
Season opening in biathlon at Sjusjøen – 15.11-17.11.
Sjusjøen and Natrudstilen Ski centre welcome everyone to the Opening for Norwegian and International Biathletes. The event has been very successful the last years, with good trails and much audience. The ski season in Sjusjøen opens around September 30th.
The 2019 FIS Alpine Europa Cup for ladies in Kvitfjell – 05.12-07.12.
The worlds second best female skiers has started a tradition of visiting Kvitfjell prior to Christmas. Young skiers from all around Europe has the possibility of obtaining valuable practice during these days. Approximately 100 contestants participates each year.
FIS World Cup Nordic Skiing in Lillehammer – 06.12-08.12.
This years World Cup in Lillehammer will be a big event. The difficult and intimate slopes will be challenging. There will be four races in Cross Country, three in Combined and three races for female ski jumpers. In total, ten World Cup races on three days. Over 700 volunteers are needed to complete this event.
Lillehammer 2020 World Para Nordic Skiing and Biathlon World Cup – 09.12-20.12.
The World Cup is this year extended to include one of the many World Cups in Para Sports. The first races will be within Cross Country and Biathlon. Around 80 contestants is planned to participate in the races. This is the first test-event for the World Para Championships in February 2021, which will be hosted in Lillehammer and Hafjell.
Events spring semester 2020
Lillehammer 2020 World Para Snowboard World Cup – 26.01-02.02.
Snowboard is a very popular branch for the Para athletes. This is the first time a World Cup in Para Snowboard is held in Hafjell. It is expected that over 60 contestants will participate.
The 2020 FIS Alpine Europa Cup in Kvitfjell for men in Kvitfjell – 27.02-01.03.
For the second time, will the Europa Cup in Alpine be held prior to the FIS World Cup in Alpine. This is an important event for recruiting contestants to the World Cup. It is assumed that 80 to 90 contestants will participate in this Europa Cup.
FIS World Cup Alpine in Kvitfjell – 06.03-08.03.
The World Cup in Alpine is arranged for the 26th time, this year in Kvitfjell. The world’s best and fastest skiers will race down the mountain, which is acknowledged as one of the classic alpine mountains in the world.
The RAW AIR World Cup in Ski Jump – 09.03-10.03.
RAW AIR is a yearly Norwegian ski jumping tournament taking place in four different cities, over the course of 10 days. Last year was the first time the female athletes could participate in the tournament.
Birken Skifestival – 14.03-21.03.
The Birken Skifestival is a tribute to the Ski sport, for everyone whom are interested in Cross Country no matter age and shape. You can choose between eight races, and you are guaranteed in finding one which suits you. The races are a training goal for many people throughout the year.
Lillehammer 2020 World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup – 18.03-25.03.
The World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup, previously called the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup, is an annual circuit of elite disabled alpine skiing competitions, competing in timed races within five disciplines: slalom, giant slalom, super G, downhill and super combined.
Norwegian Championship 2020 – 23.03-29.03
Lillehammer Ski Club and the Norwegian Ski Federation, in collaboration with NRK, will organize Norway's first joint Norwegian Championship for the Ski Federation's six branches in March 2020.
The Norwegian Festival of Literature in Lillehammer – 25.05-31-05.
The Festival is Norway’s biggest Literature festival, which offers various events for readers of all ages. It is a great possibility to experience authors discussing their works and relevant societal issues with like-minded people on-stage. Each year, about 400 authors and artists from the whole world participates in the festival. The focus of the 2020 festival is on Spanish and Latin American literature.
Birken Run Festival – 13.06.-15.06.
The yearly festival is one of the most famous running events in Norway. The tracks stretch out through various forest terrain. Participants choose between seven different races, where one can find distances that suits one’s own ambitions and level.
